Sam Israelit
Chief Sustainability Officer, Bain & Company
Sam Israelit joined Bain & Company in 2000 to co-found the company’s Enterprise Technology practice. Over the course of his career, he has worked extensively with clients across IT, manufacturing, and procurement. In addition to his core work, Sam has developed a deep interest in social impact and environmental sustainability. When presented with the opportunity to help support Bain's sustainability efforts, Sam focused on finding ways to ensure the firm could live up to the social and environmental standards it has set. Recognizing the challenges involved, Sam was appointed as Bain's first Chief Sustainability Officer in 2021. In this capacity, he is leading the charge to ensure that Bain is fully committed to sustainability in all aspects of its operations. Sam earned an SM from the MIT Sloan School of Management in 1993. He also graduated from Harvey Mudd College in 1985, where he received both a BS and an MS in Engineering.

Yet, as a company with offices in 40 countries, serving clients globally across all industries, 70% of Bain's pre-pandemic emissions were from air travel.
As a company that leads by example, Bain pledged to reduce its scope 3 emissions from business travel by 35% per employee. Recognizing the challenges involved in this audacious goal, Bain appointed Sam Israelit as the company's first Chief Sustainability Officer and tasked him with leading the charge to embed sustainability into aspects of its operations.
